Last updated: September 16, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how bingshomepagequiz.com (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Site”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit, use, or interact with the Site.

Who we are

Unofficial status

We are an unofficial companion site for the Bing Homepage Quiz. We are not affiliated with Microsoft or Bing and we do not publish Microsoft’s quiz answers.

Information we collect

  1. Information you provide directly

    • Emails you send to us (e.g., support questions).

    • Optional form entries (e.g., feedback forms), if enabled on the Site.

  2. Information collected automatically

    • Server logs: IP address, user-agent, date/time, pages visited, referrer, and basic error/diagnostic data.

    • Cookies and similar technologies: used for essential site functions (e.g., remembering preferences) and, if enabled, analytics/advertising.

    • Analytics data (if enabled): aggregated page-use metrics (e.g., page views, time on page). We do not use analytics to identify you personally.

  3. Quiz interactions

    • Non-identifying details about quiz usage (e.g., question categories attempted, completion time) to improve difficulty and user experience. We do not publish leaderboards with personal identifiers.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of data (e.g., health, political opinions). Please do not send such information to us.

How we use your information

We process data to:

  1. Operate, secure, and maintain the Site (fraud prevention, debugging, load balancing).

  2. Provide content (e.g., daily hints, practice quizzes).

  3. Understand aggregate usage and improve the Site (analytics).

  4. Communicate with you when you contact us.

  5. Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK/Switzerland)

  • Legitimate interests: site security, basic analytics, improving services.

  • Consent: non-essential cookies, analytics/ads where required.

  • Contract: responding to your direct requests.

  • Legal obligation: compliance with applicable laws and requests from authorities.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies: required for core functions; cannot be switched off.

  • Performance/analytics cookies (optional): help us understand site usage in aggregate.

  • Advertising cookies (optional): only if we enable ads; used to deliver/measure ads.

You can manage cookies via your browser settings. If we deploy a consent banner, you can change preferences there at any time.

Analytics and third parties

If enabled, we may use privacy-respecting analytics or commonly used analytics tools. These providers may set cookies or receive limited data (e.g., truncated IP, user-agent) to provide aggregate reports. We do not sell personal information.

If we enable advertising (e.g., programmatic ad partners), those partners may use cookies or device identifiers to deliver and measure ads in accordance with their privacy policies and your consent settings.

Data sharing

We share information only with:

  1. Service providers/Processors (hosting, CDN, security, analytics) under contracts requiring privacy safeguards.

  2. Legal and safety: when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, or to protect our rights, users, and the public.

  3. Business transfer: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Data retention

  • Server logs: kept for up to 90 days (longer if needed for security/abuse investigations).

  • Contact emails/forms: kept for up to 24 months after last correspondence.

  • Analytics/measurement data: kept for up to 26 months in aggregate form.
We may retain information longer if required by law or to resolve disputes. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymize data.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards (e.g., HTTPS, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; risks remain on the Internet.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and not for children under 13 (or a higher age where local law applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact info@bingshomepagequiz.com and we will delete it.

International transfers

We may store or process data on servers outside your country. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your information.

Your rights depend on where you live. Subject to exemptions, you may have the right to:
